After having a good time at Chester Head in 2024, a few LBC club members decided to try out Chester Regatta, with the risk of steering towards an oncoming pleasure boat more than offset by the wide and relatively bend free river.
Despite bathing us in glorious sunshine at the head race, Saturday demonstrated the North’s ability to deliver biblical rain with a number of boats filling up with water without even being capsized.

With no landing stages for the regatta, crews had to walk into the water to boat, at least we were already wet! Luckily Sunday brightened up a bit, so some of our all in ones managed to move on from drenched to merely damp.

With a masters mixed 8 and 350m sprint events features of the regatta LBC delivered some great performances from crews both experienced and new to racing.

Of particular note was our new social secretary Lucie’s first win, who was pleased to discover the event winners were presented with silverware, but didn’t look like she wanted to give the trophy back!
