On Saturday 19th March our rowers took to the water to raise money for Sport Relief in a mini ‘Soar Head’

Crews were put together, some that will be racing in 3 weeks time and some thrown together on the day, we all boated hoping to be crowned victorious!

First off was the ladies coxed four with the premise that they ‘had to get back’ , however they were spotted 700 meters down the course parked up outside the pub! Sandra wasn’t seen again all morning

Then went super Schöfey in his single and blasted through the course in the fastest time, so that would make him the winner…? well no, that would be too easy!
Then the battle of the coxless fours commenced with the mixed four and ladies. All was well until gentleman Jerry said the ladies could undertake but then a quick change of course had both crews intertwined but in true LBC spirit we all just went off again and blamed the other crew over a drink back at the clubhouse

Next off were the love doubles both new and old, followed swiftly by the pair and singles, all finishing the 3k course in excellent times!
Back at the club the boats were put away and we all gathered in the club house for the bring a dish buffet and a drink. Whilst Stuart calculated the handicap results the rest of the club were entertained with the spectacular landing of Beth and Hannah in their double! Well done Mike and Scott for capturing such a treat on the GoPro! How they didn’t go in the river we’ll never know – that’s youth for you

Over £300 was raised for sport relief but… The star of the show was little pocket rocket Rhiannon who was not only the only girl to take on the course in a single at only twelve, but on top of the above she also raised over £200 on her own! What a star – well done Rhiannon ️
