Loughborough Boat Club raced at Bewdley Regatta on the River Severn at the weekend, the weather was calm for racing but the river flow was quite high and fast on the Saturday, making it difficult for crews to line up at the start. This created interesting issues for crews steering down the courses as the middle of the river has the faster flow, so both crews fighting for the faster water made for great viewing and the odd clashing of blades.
Tom Scholefield (16) and Jonny Day (18) have been regular winners for Loughborough this year in their Junior 18 double. They took another win for Loughborough on the 800m downstream course against Minerva Bath in a straight final which meant each received an engraved brass rimmed & brass base English pewter tankard. The Captain Keith Hudson is extremely proud of these boys and the effort they have put into their training really shows in their success this season.
Loughborough will next be racing at Stourport on the 14 & 15th August.
