Success yet again for Loughborough Boat Club at the annual Leicester Regatta held on the Grand Union Canal, a 700m stretch on the ‘Mile Straight’.

With side by side racing and the first whole club regatta of the season, the club had been training hard for this day. Our WJ13 girls Hannah Ferris and Isabelle Senior won in their double against Leicester in a straight final quite comprehensively. Emily Senior in her WJ15 single having beaten Trent easily in the first round, then Peterborough in the semi-finals had to face a tough Burton Leander for the pot, winning by a close length. The W.IM3 2x of Emily and Alex Abrahams beating Trentham in their first heat followed by Burton Leander in the final, meant the juniors had a cracking day taking home five tankards between them.

For the adults, Rob Parks and Tom Scholefield took home the trophy for the men’s elite double having beaten Leicester in their first round and fellow Loughborough crew of Jonny Day and Dave McCaughan in the final.

A great effort by all those who entered, with some first heat wins but sadly no more wins in the finals for others.
