Once again Henley Royal Regatta was upon us and our men’s vice captain, Tom Scholefield, had been putting in the hours on the water and in the gym to compete for the ‘Diamond Challenge’

With no pre qualifying place Schofey would have to trial for chance compete, the draw was released and he was not alone, 22 scullers in total were up for just 3 places.
Friday came, the boat was loaded on the car and Tom made the journey down to Henley.

Arriving in good time to take advantage of the practice times, conditions were fair. By the time Batch 3 of the diamond challenge came to race mid afternoon, conditions had become worse and Tom battled against a strong head wind with even stormier conditions half way down the 2,112 meter course and finished in a condition reflecting time of 9.33.2.
Unfortunately this meant that Tom had not qualified this year but hats off to you Schofey, not everyone would have the self motivation to do what you do! It’s only a matter of time ……
