As with last year, Peterborough Regatta started with a cool and cloudy Saturday, followed by a blazing Sunday where sun lotion, sun glasses and caps were the order of the day. Emily S being the only club member to be entered on the Saturday in a composite W.IM3 2x with Nottingham managed to bring home a pot having beaten Peterborough City and Milton Keynes in their first heat to win by just 0.4 seconds in the final against Globe, City of Cambridge and a second Peterborough crew.

Sunny Sunday brought more Loughborough hopefuls, although with no wins it was still a fabulous day with some great racing.

Vicky, Emily Q, Vic, Emma and cox Jen made a valiant effort in the W.IM3 4+, rowing against crews decades younger but completed a solid row. Tim in his IM3 1x had a storming row in his first heat achieving the second fastest time from the eight competitors in his class, covering the 1000m in just 4:00.7 minutes. Despite making it through to the final, victory was not to be on the day.

The W.J16 2x girls, Becky and Katie as well as the J14 2x Sam and James, had great rows, but were unsuccessful in getting through their heats. Brothers Sam and James also had to compete against each other and Alex H in the J14 singles, but thankfully in three different heats. Alex made it through to the repêchage in the fifth fastest time of out of the 12 competitors, but sadly did not make it through to the final. A great effort by the boys, especially Sam and Alex who as J13’s were rowing up a year. Emily S rowing in a single this time at W.J15, coming second in her first heat made it through to the repêchage.

With the sun blazing, noodles, burgers and hotdogs available, plus two ice-cream vans, the day was a pleasant interlude for any supporters and competitors and a big thank you to Keith and Bramble for bringing the trailer.
