Over 230 oarsmen and oarswomen from 18 different Rowing Clubs competed fiercely last Saturday on the River Soar between Kegworth and Zouch, as part of Loughborough Boat Club’s annual river race. With bright sun taking the edge off the chilly temperature, light winds led to excellent conditions for participants and spectators alike resulting in a successful and enjoyable event.
To help the club members practice and remember all the winding of the home we call the River Soar several crews took the water Saturday morning eager to set themselves a time to chase for next weekend. Taking the decision to use names from Whacky Races – some closer to the edge than others – the crews picked up oars and sculls and prepared to boat. Continue reading
Despite early heavy rain, under sunny skies the Masters 8+ was reconvened to row the Burton Head Race in Andy’s honour. With black bows on his rigger and the bow ball the course was rowed in “man down” formation. Continue reading
